Hi Folks,
As the weather continues its’ merry dance between warm, cold, snow, rain, winds and back to perishing cold, perhaps your thoughts are turning to the hills and a weekend away with the Ancrum? This coming weekend sees the Ancrum March Weekend Meet, 15th– 17th March. This month we are going to the Alex Macintyre Memorial Hut, near Ballachulish, a handy spot for visiting The Ben, The Aonachs, the Mamores, Ben a’Mheither (have I spelt that right?), Glen Coe, Ardgour , Appin and maybe even ski-ing if there’s any snow.
Here’s the gen: The Alex Mac is a well-equipped hut with all the usual refinements- well equipped kitchen with cooker and rings, microwave and fridges (no freezer chaps) also showers, and drying room, the bedrooms have alpine sleeping platforms with mattresses/ beds- you will need a sleeping bag and towel. The bedroom heaters are on coin meters, which need £1 coins, for the rest of the hut, electricity is included.
Location: North Ballachulish on A82, one mile north of the Ballachulish Bridge, 50 m from the entrance to the Creag Mhor Hotel, (look out for the green fence), OS Map no 41, Grid Ref 044 612. The car park is at the rear of the building and is accessed from the main road via a narrow lane (it tends to jump out at you, so keep your eyes peeled for the green fence and the B&B sign just beyond the turn off).
We have 6 spaces booked, unfortunately the hut is now fully booked and there appear to be no more spaces available. If we have more than 6 people, I will ask the custodian if any more spaces have become available, but can’t promise I will be successful.
The cost for the weekend is £15 pp/pn for accommodation and petrol will be in the region of £25 for passengers. Phone in will be on Tuesday 12th March, to Ian, 8pm-9pm only. We’re also happy to collect payments for the Skye Weekend Meet (3rd- 6th May) this weekend.
Hopefully, the weather will be kind to us.
See you there,
Karen
Your ever optimistic Meets Secretary
P.S.- A wee reminder for the upcoming April Meet, 12th- 14th April to the Raeburn Hut, Dalwhinnie, a good place to go to lots of different hills.
